Improved Vulnerability Assessment Table for Retaining Walls and Embankments from a Working-Level Perspective in Korea

Climate change can lead to unpredictable slope collapse, which causes human casualties. Therefore, Korea has devoted significant effort the management of disasters. The Ministry Interior and Safety Korea, oversees safety nation’s people, allocated a four-year budget $557 million investigate, assess, maintain steep sites. However, there have been fatalities caused by site evaluations based on inadequate knowledge single retaining walls embankments (RW&E) assessment table. table for RW&E-type slopes needs be improved in terms its accuracy, simplicity, ease use. In this study, domestic global evaluation methods were reviewed, problems associated with existing RW&E identified, focus group interview was conducted. through an indicator feasibility survey analytic hierarchy processing. categorized from one four classifications reduce ambiguity evaluation: concrete, reinforced soil-retaining walls, stone embankments, gabions. This study will provide sustainability serve as reference classification criteria across all national institutions that conduct evaluations.
